Degree of difficulty depends on riders skill level. Lesson begin by evaluating rider's fundamentals and progress from there.
Approximately one hour private lesson on one of our horses. Emphasis on developing foundation and fitness.
Beginner riders must start with private lesson. This is necessary to properly develop rider leg and seat. Group lessons should only be available for riders with strong base of support and fitness.
Lessons are broke down into two sections.
Section One: Stable management, grooming, tacking up, vet care, understanding equine terminology.
Section Two: Mounted. Position & Fitness
New riders that are interested in group lessons must be evaluated to ensure their skill level is safe enough for group setting.
New riders interested in group lessons must demonstrate their knowledge and ability to safely ride and steer. For safety reasons... beginner riders should never ride in a group lesson. Group lessons are lucrative thus often utilized. However... riding is a technical sport and time should be taken to properly develop fundamental understanding, coordination and fitness to safely and effectively ride in a group lesson.
We do not offer beginner group lessons and do not recommend them.
Includes daily turn in and out. Daily stall cleaning. Fresh bedding as needed. Feed hay and grain twice a day. Reasonable blanketing and supplement included.
Horse kept in field and given free choice grass hay. Grain and specialized hay not included. Reasonable blanketing included.
Quality horse training provided at 300.00 per month in addition to board. We start babies. We love working with problem horses and have a great success rate developing well-rounded riding horses. Each Horse is worked 4 - 5 days per week. Training includes dressage, jumping, three-day eventing, trail riding, fitness, cross country, and fox hunting.
Leasing available for families who want to experience owning a horse without the complications.
Provides for exclusive use of horse.
Partial lease provides opportunity to use horse three days per week. Price does not include lessons.
HPS has a variety of vehicles and trailers including 6 horse van.
One Week 500.00 9am - 5pm. Ask about flexible drop off & pick up times. Horse ownership is hard work and responsibility. Our program creates a real-life horse ownership experience. Students are given a horse on first day then spend the week caring for it. Students study horse care, stable management (with basic construction and repair) arena maint. Jump building. Riding. Grooming and vet care. Children will be taught to use critical listening, thinking and problem solving skills.
